What is Durud Sharif - I write this today because I realize that many people don't know what Durud Shafif is: Thus with the Help of the Most High and God Willing some good source information - DURUD SHARIF "Durud Sharif (Salawat) "Allah and His angels send blessings on the Prophet: O You that believe! Send you blessing on him, and salute him with all respect. [The Holy Quran 33-56] Divine blessings on Holy Prophet Muhammad of Islam is the highest and the most meritorious act in Muslim religion. It is called "Durud Sharif" (Salawat) Durud means blessings and Sharif means with respect. It is the invocation of Allah's blessings on Prophet Muhammad just in the manner of Salutations on him. This is a sure means of conferment of Almighty's blessings, peace, prosperity and favors of great magnitude on one who recites Durud Sharif on the Prophet, The Reciter of Durud Sharif receives all benefits in this world, and maximum gain int the next World, plus love of the Holy Prophet.

The invocation of blessisngs on the Prophet (AS) is styled in Arabic as "Salawat" in Persian as "Durud" and in Urdu as Salawatu-Salam.

The regular recitation of Durud Sharif on the Prophet (AS) lifts up our hearts to a plane of comprehension where we gaze in our new found peace and moral armour.
The reciter of Durud will after some time come to realize by himself that it is the spontaneous outpouring of his heart before the Great Prophet (AS)of Islam, whose love and attachment is needed to get all the present day problems solved and mercy in the next World. The higher the number of Durud Sharif we recite higher the gain and benefit is achieved in both the worlds. A Muslim wants only this, that his both the world should be bright for him. The special and exclusive aspect of this prayer is that it (Durud Sharif) is immediately accepted by Allah. No one can doubt its acceptance as the same thing is being done by Allah too. Not only this but he has revealed this secret in the Holy Qur'an by saying that: "And raised high the esteem (in which) you (are held) Holy Qur'an 94-4
